Faulkner was one of the most significant American writers of the 20th century. He dealt fearlessly and imaginatively with the difficult world he found around him in the southern states where he grew up. No one can read his novels without being touched and involved and at the same time excited and enriched by the ultimately positive view of the world that he writes so grippingly about.
