Wagner was born in 1813 into a family with a theatrical background. His musical talents emerged at an early age and he quickly established himself as one of the most influential composers of all time particuarly in the field of opera or music drama as he saw it. He was immensely talented and industrious. He wrote his own libretti and even had an opera house built to his own specifications.
